18-year-old from Conn. dead after being pulled from Cape Cod pond

An 18-year-old paddle boarder from Connecticut is dead following an apparent drowning Monday in Falmouth, Massachusetts.
Falmouth Police and Fire personnel responded to Jenkins Pond shortly before 6 p.m. after someone called 911 and said he couldn’t find his friend who fell into the water while they were paddleboarding, the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office said.
Falmouth Fire and Rescue went out on a boat and were able to pull the victim from the water. Crews immediately began life-saving measures, and the victim was taken to Falmouth Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, Falmouth police said.
The district attorney’s office identified him Thursday as 18-year-old Abdullah Naveed of Vernon, Connecticut.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine his cause and manner of death.
Massachusetts State Environmental Police responded to assist, and state police detectives are investigating.
