In Förderstedt, south of Magdeburg, ECO POWER THREE GmbH, a subsidiary of ECO STOR GmbH, is developing a state-of-the-art facility comprising three units with a total output of 300 MW and a storage capacity of 714 MWh, capable of supplying approximately 500,000 households with electricity for two hours. The battery storage system includes a 110 kV substation with transformers, 96 container stations for inverters and transformers, as well as 192 container stations equipped with state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries. Construction of the large-scale battery storage facility commenced in November 2025, and is expected to be connected to the grid in the second half of 2027.

The financing is being provided without the use of public subsidies.

The ECO STOR team develops, builds and operates battery storage systems across Germany that repeatedly set benchmarks in terms of output and capacity. With the Förderstedt project, ECO STOR is achieving another important milestone for the energy transition in Germany.

Hogan Lovells advised its longstanding client ECO STOR comprehensively on all legal aspects of the financing. The advice was provided in close cooperation with ECO STOR’s in-house legal team led by General Counsel Dr. Ilona Kautz-Wieczorek.
