Eddie Jones has made sweeping changes to England's team to face Scotland with four players dropped from the starting XV.

The biggest statement is at scrum-half, where long-standing No 9 Ben Youngs has been replaced by Willi Heinz.

Saracens pair Mako Vunipola and George Kruis have returned to the front-five, with Lewis Ludlam taking over the No 6 jersey from Courtney Lawes.

The fifth change to the line-up is injury enforced, with Jonathan Joseph replacing Manu Tuilagi in the centres.

In an attempt to boost England's physicality, Jones has named six forwards on the bench including uncapped pair Tom Dunn and Ben Earl.

England have not lifted the Calcutta Cup since 2017, but Jones believes his team are ready to overcome their opening round defeat by France.

'Preparation this week has been great,' said Jones. 'We have sought to address the issues from the France game and have had a really good and sharp preparation for Scotland.

'Scotland are a dangerous side. They like to play with a lot of width and with a lot of flow and tempo in their game. We want to make sure we dominate the gain line.

'Their win record against England at Murrayfield is substantially higher than their overall record against us, so we have to recognise they are a dangerous beast and we have to be at our best to beat them.'

Despite coming under fire for his team selection in Paris, Jones has stuck with his most controversial call by retaining Tom Curry at No 8.

SUBS: 16 Tom Dunn, 17 Ellis Genge, 18 Will Stuart, 19 Joe Launchbury, 20 Courtney Lawes, 21 Ben Earl, 22 Ben Youngs, 23 Ollie Devoto

Curry starred in the No 6 jersey at the World Cup, but Jones believes he could be a long-term contender for Billy Vunipola's position.

Lions trio Jamie George, Kyle Sinckler and Maro Itoje have all retained their place in the tight-five, with Sam Underhill completing the pack.

In the back-line, rookie full-back George Furbank has been given another chance to impress, despite a stuttering debut on Sunday.

Elliot Daly and Jonny May continue on the wings, while the 10-12 partnership of George Ford and Owen Farrell is maintained.

One of the highest profile omissions is the absence of Joe Marler, who has been left out of the matchday 23 behind Ellis Genge.

Hooker Luke Cowan Dickie was pushing to start, but he left camp on Friday morning after his partner went into labour and has been replaced by Dunn on the bench.

Lawes, Will Stuart and Joe Launchbury will also be deployed from the bench for a second-half power injection, while Youngs and Ollie Devoto will provide backline cover.
