Surf’s up on Lake Tahoe.
Mike Love, a founding member of the Beach Boys and lead singer on such hits as “Surfin’ U.S.A.” and “Little Deuce Coupe,” has listed his palatial Lake Tahoe estate for $43 million.
The 85-year-old, who formed the group in 1961 with first cousin Brian Wilson, Wilson’s brothers Carl and Dennis, and Wilson’s friend Al Jardine, has lived in Nevada home for more than four decades.
Tucked in the north shore Tahoe, the Incline Village estate features a whopping 10 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms across 18,922 square feet on a 2.5-acre lot. It is surrounded by six acres of preserved land the family placed into a conservation to prevent future development, securing the home’s ability to maintain the privacy and natural environment as it exists today.
That decision secures the setting, maintaining the privacy and natural environment as they exist today, with panoramic views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada forming a constant backdrop.
The stone-covered mansion includes a recording studio, home theater, wine cellar, a poker room, an in-home sauna and gym, and a pool with with panoramic views of Lake Tahoe.
“Much of Love’s work took shape within these walls, in a setting built to support the creative process rather than separate from it,” listing agent Jeannette Harpole of Habitat Nevada said in a press release of the homes pitched ceilings and acoustics.
The home also features elements from Eastern philosophy and meditation practices throughout, from a hand-carved Ganesh at the entry to a Hindu statuary and a celestial dome ceiling. The front door was commissioned by Love and created by southern Indian temple artisans and blessed by a temple priest.
