Traffic delayed near LAX after natural gas line damage

Дата публикации: 20-05-2026 22:37:15

Traffic was backed up near Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday night after a natural gas line was damaged during construction on a road near the airport, officials said.
The northbound lanes of Sepulveda Boulevard at Imperial Highway and the eastbound and westbound lanes on 96th Street were closed, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Video from the scene shows police vehicles near the construction area helping direct traffic.
The LAFD urged travelers to leave early and check traffic before going near the airport.
SoCal Gas said it was notified at 9:30 p.m.about the damage to a 6-inch steel natural gas by a third party doing construction work on the road. The work was not related to any SoCal Gas projects, the utility said.
The natural gas line was turned off overnight. About 10 natural gas meters serving LAX were temporarily offline, potentially affecting some food services at the airport, SoCal Gas said
