Sometimes, MAGA voters actually do learn. 

Take Randy, who has undergone quite the evolution on his Facebook page. (Please don’t pile on with comments on his page.) 

Back in 2024, in between photos of him hunting, the Arkansas resident was posting stuff like this: 

Proof the 2020 Election was rigged, we don’t have that many stupid citizens to vote for Braindead Biden. He has done Wonders on the Border and the Economy. This country has turned in to the laughing stock of the world. Sending Billions to other countries while this one struggles. A real Genius. Trying to Outlaw assault rifles while we give thousands to Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Israel. What a total Loser!

Or this nugget, in September 2023:

Joe Biden and his entitled piece of shit son are the worst thing to ever happen to this country. UAW workers , poor bastards living paye to paycheck. He needs to live on $1800 a month on social security. He’s as lost as a ball in tall weeds. Every few months we a threatened with a government shut down. If we get rid of all the useless Bastards in DC we wouldn’t have this problem! I personally think all of Congress and the Senate should loose their pay. Hitler had a good idea, he just chose the wrong people.

So, you know, a typical red-state deplorable.

And come hell or high water, these guys have generally stuck with President Donald Trump despite his rank incompetence. But Randy isn’t one of them.

On March 20 of this year, we saw his ire turn (publicly) against Trump for the first time.

Donald Trump can take his coin, and the 200 billion he’s asking for and stick up his ass! I used to like him until he started to show his Hitler colors. That 200 billion would  do better going to Veterans, and retired people that have paid there dues. I really can’t blame our so called allies. The price of goods and services are unreal in this country right now. This country always sticks its damn nose in other countries business, yet can’t take care of its own. Them bastards in the Middle East were fighting before the Bible. Fact ALL politicians are crooks!

“Good old Trump really blew smoke up the voters ass!!!!!!” Randy posted on May 4.

On July 16, he yelled, “Trump is one big piece of shit!”

Totally true and accurate.

That was an encore of his July 13 post, where he offered supporting evidence for that declaration.

Trump has turned out to be big piece of shit! I voted for him regretfully. He only wanted elected for revenge. He does not give a damn about the people in this country. He plays with his Iran like a child with a new toy. The economy in this ( so called greatest country ) is bullshit. The conflict with Iran has NOTHING to do with gas prices. We are being gouged to death. He needs to leave our National parks alone. I regret voting for this bastard as much as marrying two sorry women.

And that is a surprisingly lucid statement for someone who once seemed like a standard-issue MAGA minion.

Some things are obvious even to Trump supporters. They buy groceries. They fill up their gas tanks. Trump can tell them the economy is great and prices are falling, but they can see their own bills and bank statements.

What’s more interesting is that Randy is seeing through the propaganda on everything else. He recognizes that Trump is consumed by revenge. He sees the Iran war as a self-inflicted disaster. He understands that Trump’s attacks on our national parks are destructive rather than some necessary crusade against government waste. These are exactly the kinds of things the MAGA media ecosystem exists to excuse, obscure, or celebrate.

Randy isn’t becoming a liberal. He’s just stopped believing everything Trump tells him. And for a movement built on keeping its supporters inside an alternate reality, that’s a pretty big problem.

Nothing in Randy’s Facebook history suggests he’d vote for a Democrat, even though Democrats would be tougher on oil companies, protect national parks, steward a better economy, and avoid stupid wars against Iran. He seemingly loves his guns too much to vote for someone on the left side of the aisle.

But we don’t need to convert the Randys of the world.

They can believe that “all politicians are crooks.” In a country this sharply divided, deciding that Trump is a piece of shit and staying home on Election Day is plenty.

Trump built his political power by appealing to people like Randy, feeding their anger, and turning them into reliable voters.

Now he’s giving them reasons to walk away.
