As the episode begins, the sun rises over L.A. At Forrester Creations, Steffy is asleep on the couch, and oh gee! She doesn’t appear to have any clothes on under that blanket! At the same time, Finn is flying home, talking to himself and flashing back to the disaster in Monte Carlo. Over at the cliff house, Deacon marvels that Taylor got Kelly and Hayes on the bus to camp. (He does know she raised kids, right?) Taylor then expresses her gratitude that Deacon understood why she couldn’t accept his marriage proposal.

After the opening credits, Taylor tells Deacon that at their age, marriage doesn’t really seem necessary. All he’s worried about is that she’s happy — and that, she appears to be. So everything is copasetic in their world for now.

Before Deacon leaves for Bikini, he marvels that Sheila hasn’t been by the cliff house to manipulate Taylor into letting her play Maw Maw with her. Maybe, he theorizes, his ex really isn’t a threat to Steffy and Finn’s relationship anymore. Oh, Deacon, you’re precious.

At Forrester, Steffy is stunned to awaken and see that tangled up in a blanket on the other end of the couch is Carter. “Oh my God,” she gasps. “We shouldn’t have done this.” After all that they drank, I’m kinda surprised they could do it!

As Steffy and Carter race to get into their clothes, hangovers be damned, she discovers that Finn has texted her a million times and is on his way home. Carter apologizes for the hookup, but Steffy acknowledges that “it was both of our faults!”

As Steffy wonders how she’s going to face Finn, he’s in the air, running through devastating flashbacks and continuing to talk to himself. (Luckily, no one is sitting next to him.) The second the plane lands, he’s up from his seat — as if the doors to exit ever open that fast!

Back in the CEO’s office, Carter tries to hide the telltale signs of what went on the night before. Good thing he’s fast, too, because he’s just about done with his tidying when Daphne comes in. She couldn’t go after all. “I couldn’t leave you, Carter.”

When Steffy arrives at the cliff house, Taylor is full of questions, the first being WTH is she doing back so early? They can talk later, Steffy says. Right now, she needs a shower (and presumably a lotta aspirin!).

In the episode’s final moments, Daphne apologizes to Carter for spiraling. Her diagnosis is painful, but it hurts more, she admits, to endure it without her rock. “I lost my mind, but it’s back. I’m never gonna run away like that again.”

As Daphne admits she made a terrible mistake, guilt washes over Carter’s face. You bet his “terrible mistake” tops hers!

After Steffy’s shower, she recaps what happened in Monte Carlo for her mother. Taylor goes through the usual wow, what, how, why cycle. Steffy is more than traumatized, she adds, her special place and therefore everything is ruined. Just as Taylor notices that Steffy’s rings are off, in comes Finn.

“Just remember how much you two love each other,” advises the world-renowned shrink. With that, Finn unpacks every apology in his arsenal. “I made a terrible mistake,” he admits. “Please tell me that you can forgive me.” Maybe Steffy can work out some kind of forgiveness trade?
