According to MMRDA, the 300 million passenger journey milestone was reached on August 3, 2026, across Metro Line 2A (Dahisar East, Andheri West), Metro Line 7 (Dahisar East, Gundavali), Metro Line 2B Phase 1 (Diamond Garden, Mandale) and Metro Line 9 Phase 1 (Dahisar East, Kashigaon).

Fastest growth since operations began

This latest milestone indicates the increasing use of Mumbai’s Metro network. MMRDA noted that the most recent 50 million journeys were completed in just 179 days, making it the fastest growth phase since commercial operations started. The network is now adding an average of 279,000 passenger journeys each day, compared to 270,000 during the previous milestone period. This marks a 3.35% increase in average daily ridership, despite weekends, holidays, and seasonal travel patterns.
