The Park City Council unanimously approved a resolution on May 7 proclaiming June 2026 as Pride Month in Park City, reaffirming the city’s support for LGBTQ+ residents and visitors through a series of visible community activations and inclusion initiatives.

As part of the declaration, Pride banners will line Main Street light poles throughout June, while local transit vehicles will again feature “Ride with Pride” decals. City officials said the transit decal design will remain consistent with last year’s theme.

The resolution states that the displays are intended to demonstrate Park City’s “commitment to inclusion of LGBTQ+ residents” while promoting policies and programs that oppose discrimination and support equality for all community members.

The proclamation was adopted during a regular meeting of the City Council after being introduced through a staff report prepared by City Recorder Michelle Kellogg.

According to the report, the city views Pride Month as both a celebration and an opportunity for continued education and advocacy.

“Pride Month is a time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community’s history, achievements, and ongoing fight for equality, while also acknowledging the struggles and injustices faced by LGBTQ+ individuals,” the resolution states. “It serves as a platform for education, awareness, and advocacy, promoting acceptance and understanding of the diverse LGBTQ+ community.”

The declaration also acknowledges Utah’s LGBTQ+ history, noting that Utah Pride began in 1974 as a small, informal gathering of Salt Lake City’s LGBTQ+ community.

City leaders emphasized that Park City welcomes LGBTQ+ residents, visitors, allies, friends, and families, and described Pride Month as a reminder that efforts toward equality and inclusion must continue.

“Park City welcomes residents and visitors from the LGBTQ+ community, their friends and family members, and straight allies who show their support,” the resolution reads. “Pride Month is a reminder that we should never let up in our efforts to ensure full equality, inclusion, and empowerment for our LGBTQ+ community.”
