Five sportsmen have made the Sunday Times' list of the richest people under 35 in the UK, although Tottenham talisman Harry Kane's wealth has been bettered by a former Swansea ball-boy once infamously kicked by Eden Hazard.

The updated financial power list was unveiled today and has estimated the worth of the 350 wealthiest people in the country. Unsurprisingly, owing to the extortionate wage packets available in sport, a host of notable athletes have made the cut.

But packed in among them, meanwhile, is Charlie Morgan in 27th. Once an unassuming ball-boy at Swansea, Morgan is now worth millions after launching a premium vodka brand with his school friend.

A decade ago, Morgan was kicked in the ribs by Hazard after appearing to lie on the ball to prevent it from being put in play. Having lashed out in view of the crowd, Hazard was sent off and Swansea progressed to the League Cup final.

Three years on, Morgan, the son of a hotelier, entered the world of business. The sales of AU Vodka, a fixture in bars and clubs, reached £43.9m in 2021-22.

Golfer Rory McIlroy has also made the cut, thanks in part to a number of sponsorship deals

The luxury vodka brand was founded in 2015 and has gone to become one of the most prominent drinks found within influencer circles.

Hazard, having moved to Real Madrid in 2019, is not featured on the Sunday Times list himself. In 2022, Forbes estimated Hazard's earnings for the year to have been around £25m. He is estimated to earn around £380,000 per week on his contract in Spain, which still has one year to run.

AU Vodka gained huge traction earlier this year after Jake Paul was challenged to get a tattoo of the blue raspberry bottle on his right arm in exchange for £206,000.

Paul duly accepted the challenge and a video was posted to YouTube showing him on a rooftop in Dubai, sipping at the drink in question while a tattoo artist designs Paul's right-arm.

Shortly after that, over 100 people queued outside the Swansea headquarters of AU Vodka after the company promised to tattoo them with bottles of their branded drink in exchange for £250.

Morgan's £55m fortune sees him finish ahead of Harry Kane on the list. The England captain is worth £51m and has also assembled a £13m property portfolio.

Nestled firmly among the elite due to their sporting success, Rory McIlroy, Anthony Joshua, Gareth Bale, Raheem Sterling and Kane are all included on the lucrative list.

McIlroy has boasted £60m worth of earnings on the fairway and secured a host of sponsorship deals with the likes of Nike. Last year, he also founded a tech-focused company with Tiger Woods, with the venture certain to add to his £200m wealth.

Five spots below McIlroy's eighth-placed finish is heavyweight superstar Joshua.

Gareth Bale, who retired from football earlier this year, is said to be worth £70million overall

Sport stars on the list

8th - Rory McIlroy (£200m)

Joint 13th - Anthony Joshua (£150m)

22nd - Gareth Bale (£70m)

23rd - Raheem Sterling (£61m)

Joint 27th - Charlie Morgan (£55m)

32nd - Harry Kane (£51m)

Despite suffering two defeats at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua's earning potential has not been dented. Indeed, his social media influence has enabled him to wrap up deals with Hugo Boss and Jaguar, contributing to a fortune of £150m.

Joshua also admitted there is a 'school of thought' that he should be a billionaire.

In 22nd on the list is the now-retired Bale. The veteran forward opted to hang up his boots earlier this year after enjoying spells with Southampton, Tottenham and Real Madrid, with his last club said to have paid him a staggering £600,000 per week.

It is no shock, then, that the former Wales international is worth £70m overall.

Just one place below Bale is Chelsea's Sterling. It is reported the winger, also an England regular, takes home £325,000 every week for plying his trade at Stamford Bridge, and his earnings are topped up by endorsements from New Balance.

The 28-year-old has also set up a property company with his fiancee, Paige Milian.

Musicians Ed Sheeran, Adele and Harry Styles are among the wealthiest people in the UK, meanwhile, with all three listed as having fortunes over the £150m mark.

At the very top of the list is the Duke of Westminster, Hugh Richard Louis Grosvenor, who inherited his title and a land and property portfolio at the age of 25.

Now 32, his and his family's total wealth is estimated to be around £9.878billion.

The rankings also feature a number of self-made millionaires, with Gymshark co-founder and CEO Ben Francis building a £900m fortune in a little over a decade.

Overall, the combined wealth of UK billionaires is £683.856bn, an increase of £30.734bn, or 4.5 per cent, on the total wealth of billionaires from last year's list.
