We have a rather nice swimming pool in our development which is usable for only about three months a year as it’s not heated.
I spoke to the guy who manages it today and asked why we don’t have solar panels heating it in the winter and he said that he approached a company that installs solar panels but they walked away when they saw the pool was kidney shaped.
They said that the pool must be covered at night and that a cover could not be made for the shape of the pool.
The pool is at least 20 meters long and 10 meters wide and the kidney shape is rather slender.
In Hong Kong we have many outdoor 50m pools that are heated through the winter and none of them are ever covered.
Is the solar guy correct or does he just want an easy life?
