2 men shot outside Temple University Hospital in North Philadelphia, police say

Two men were shot Sunday morning right outside Temple University Hospital in North Philadelphia, police said.
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the shooting happened on the 3400 block of Germantown Ave. just before noon on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026.
Police said one of the victims walked into Temple University Hospital, while the second victim was transported into the hospital by police.
In a message to the Temple University community, Interim Vice President for Public Safety and Chief of Police Denise Wilhelm said that the shooting occurred after a moving car with two suspects opened fire on another car, injuring the two men.
The suspects then drove away, and Temple police are working with the PPD to locate them, Wilhelm said.
According to Wilhelm, the two men injured do not have life-threatening injuries.
NBC10 was on scene as police taped off an area directly in front of the hospital’s emergency entrance and trauma center. Several bullets were visible, as well as at least eight evidence markers.
Surveillance video obtained by NBC10’s Aaron Baskerville showed the shooting and caught a glimpse of the car suspected of carrying the gunmen.
A nearby resident told NBC10 that she heard two rounds of gunfire. She said she counted eight gunshots during the first round and about five more during the second.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
