RICHMOND, Va. — A North Chesterfield man and his wife are planning retirement travel after a Virginia Lottery Scratch-Off ticket turned into a $200,000 windfall.
The couple purchased several Scratch-Off tickets at the Kroger located at 7000 Tim Price Way in Richmond.
As she always does, the winner’s wife scratched the tickets while her husband waited.
“Oh, babe! I think we won some money!” she recalled saying after revealing the prize.
The winning 50X the Money Scratch-Off ticket was worth the game’s second-tier prize of $200,000.
Virginia law allows lottery winners to remain anonymous, and the Virginia Lottery did not release the winner’s identity.
The couple told lottery officials they plan to use the winnings to travel during retirement.
The $50X the Money game offers prizes ranging from $20 to $3 million. Lottery officials said this was the third and final $200,000 prize claimed in the game. Two top prizes of $3 million remain unclaimed.
