According to the Virginia Lottery, the Fauquier County resident stopped at Mega Mart, 8328 Shoppers Square in Manassas, and decided to purchase a Money Money Money scratch-off instead of his usual Mega Millions ticket.
The change paid off immediately.
The man scratched the ticket while sitting in his car and discovered he had won the game’s $150,000 top prize.
Lottery officials said he began shaking after realizing what he had won.
Once the initial shock wore off, he called his wife and children to share the news. The family was stunned by the unexpected win.
The winner told the Virginia Lottery he plans to save the prize money.
