England manager Gareth Southgate has confirmed his England squad for the upcoming international break.

Among the squad are Harry Maguire and Kalvin Phillips, while Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is listed as a midfielder.

There was no space though, for Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling despite his blistering start to the season. 

Southgate's side are set to play one qualifier for the 2024 European Championships as well as a friendly in the coming weeks.

They will take on Ukraine who currently sit second in Group C of the qualifiers with England holding a six point lead atop the group.

The next port of call is then a friendly against Scotland to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the first official fixture between the two nations.

Under-21 record goalscorer Eddie Nketiah has earned his first call-up to the senior side along with Chelsea defender Levi Colwill as the only other uncapped player.

England are first in action against Ukraine in European qualification on Saturday, 9th September 2023.

It will take place at a neutral site at the Tarczynski Arena in Wroclaw Poland with kick-off at 5pm.

Fans will be able to watch all the build-up and action live on Channel 4.

A win would seem them take a nine point lead in the group and take a big step towards qualification for Euro2024. 

Gareth Southgate's side will wrap up their international break against Scotland on Tuesday, 12th September 2023.

England will travel to Hampden Park in a fixture that will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the first official fixture between the two nations.

The match is set to kick-off at 7:45pm and fans will be able to watch coverage on Channel 4.
