The specialists assembled the lower semi-vessel of the RPV for Rooppur NPP Unit No.1 Bangladesh, at the Volgodonsk Branch of JSC“Mechanical Engineering Division-technology” “Atommash” (part of Engineering Division of Rosatom – JSC “Atomenergomash”).

Preliminary assembly of the head and shells of the core was carried out during the operation. Then, a 160-ton structure was transferred to a horizontal position using a specialized tilter and installed on a welding machine for welding circumferential welds.

The welding will be carried out for about 14 days with constant heating at 170-200 degrees Celsius in the automatic mode. After that, the heat treatment of the weld joint will be carried out to provide with the necessary properties and residual welding stresses relive. Then the semi-vessel will undergo different inspection operations, after which the joining operation with the upper semi-vessel and welding of the closing weld joints will be carried out.

The Reactor represents a vertical cylindrical body with elliptic bottom with the Core and the Internals inside of it. The top of the reactor is tightly sealed with the cover with drive mechanisms and regulatory devices and protection of the reactors and nozzles for the cable outlet of in-core monitoring sensors. In the upper part of the vessel there are nozzles for coolant supply and removal, and also nozzles for emergency coolant supply in case of circuit depressurization.

JSC “Atomenergomash” is a complete supplier of all equipment of the reactor facility of Rooppur NPP and a significant part of the equipment of the power house. The enterprises of the Division produce reactors, steam generators, pump- and heat-exchange equipment.

Rooppur NPP is designed and built according to the Russian project. The station will consist of two Power Units with a capacity of 1200 MW each; with VVER type reactors of Generation 3+.
