Mechanical Engineering Division LLC (a joint venture of Atomenergomash JSC and General Electric) has finished the design of the condenser-embedded parts for Akkuyu nuclear power plant. The equipment has been manufactured at ZIO-Podolsk PJSC (a company of Atomenergomash JSC, which is a machine building division of Rosatom).

It is the first shipment of Mechanical Engineering Division under the project for the supply of the equipment of the steam turbine package for the NPP, being constructed at the territory of the Republic of Turkey.

The total weight of the equipment was about 17.5 tons, including more than 20 unique parts (the total number of parts exceeded 700).

Within its scope of work, the specialists of Mechanical Engineering Division performed strength calculations, 3D modelling, issued basic design documentation, and performed designer supervision during manufacturing.

Under the contract for the supply of the turbine building equipment for Akkuyu NPP, Mechanical Engineering Division and ZIO-Podolsk will have to design and manufacture condensers, deaerators, moisture separator reheaters, low- and high pressure heaters.

Mechanical Engineering Division joint venture was established in 2007 to equip the conventional islands of NPPs of Russian design using GE’s Arabelle steam turbine technology. Since 2017, Mechanical Engineering Division has been performing the project for the supply of the equipment of the steam turbine package for the turbine island of Akkuyu nuclear power plant (the Republic of Turkey). The project includes 4 units rated at 1255 MW each. The main equipment of the steam turbine plant for the turbine island, including the half-speed Arabelle steam turbine, the four-pole GIGATOP turbogenerator and the condenser vacuum system equipment, will be manufactured by GE Steam Power. The pumps, heat-exchange and other auxiliary equipment will be manufactured by Atomenergomash mainly, i.e. ZiO-Podolsk, CKBM, Ganz, ARAKO, ATM, CNIITMASH NPO. The turbine island systems designed by Mechanical Engineering Division will ensure maximum efficiency, reliability and safety of the unit operation as a whole.

The Akkuyu NPP construction project consists of four power units equipped with Russian VVER-1200 reactor plants of the generation 3+ complying with the most stringent safety standards. The electric output of each NPP unit will be 1255 MW.
