Back in September last year, BMW announced the iX3 50 xDrive electric SUV, the first of its cars that’s part of the Neue Klasse (New Class in German) portfolio. Now, the car has made its way to our shores, and it looks like it also picked up the M Sport Pro tag on its way here. Despite this though, the key performance figures are identical to when we first saw it last year.

This means a twin electric motor setup that outputs 345 kW / 645Nm, which translates to a century sprint time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h. Powering the BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro is a 108.7 kWh battery pack that also gives it a WLTP range of 805km. Then there’s the 800-volt architecture that allows for DC charging rates of up to 400 kW, which translates to about 372km of range with 10 minutes of charging time.

Inside, BMW has given the iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro a 17.9-inch central display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a wireless charging tray below it, and a 430-watt, 13-speaker Harman Kardon HiFi system. An additional display comes in the form of the 43.3-inch Panoramic Vision, which is a thin strip that runs from one A-pillar to the other, providing quick info at a glance.

Both front seats get a seven-program massage function, with the driver also getting steering wheel heating, the latter of which is a bit superfluous in Malaysia. Rear passengers get their own touch display, albeit a very small one, for independent control of the three-zone automatic conditioning, in addition to their own USB-C ports. At the back, the BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro has 520l of luggage space, but you can expand this to 1,750l by folding down the rear seats. By its nature of being an EV, you also get some space under the bonnet, rated at 58l. Carrying the car are massive 22-inch wheels.

For safety features, the BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro comes with what it calls Driving Assistant Plus. This includes things from the standard driving assistance suite like lane keep assist and departure warning, emergency stop assist, as well as cruise control. There’s also the parking assistant suite, which includes active park distance control, drive-off monitoring, parking assistant, cross traffic and exit warning as well as reversing assistant.

The BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro comes in six colour options, which are Alpine White, Black Sapphire, M Brooklyn Grey, Space Silver, Ocean Wave Blue and Polarised Grey. Those last two are noted to be new metallic finishes. Either way, the car costs RM378,800, or RM399,800 with the service and repair package. This includes a five-year unlimited mileage warranty plus 100,000km of service coverage, as well as an eight-year high-voltage battery warranty.
