Decarbonisation solutions provider, ReNew Energy Global Plc, will go for a collaborative model to set up a ₹85,200 crore Green Data Center in Andhra Pradesh.

The State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) had cleared the investment proposal in this regard on Wednesday which is expected to be ratified by the State Cabinet in the next meeting scheduled to be held later this month.

According to official sources, the proposed Green Data Centre will come up in Anakapalli in a plot of land to be allocated by APIIC after the ratification by the State Cabinet. 

This will be a new project in addition to the investment projects already committed and started by ReNew in Andhra Pradesh. 

The company is already in talks with a few global data center players for collaboration in the proposed project. 

As data centers are energy guzzlers, ReNew, which has inherent strengths in Green energy, wants to harness the potential for Green Data Centers which is the rationale behind the company entering the data center segment.

In the CII Partnership Summit held in Visakhapatnam last year, ReNew had committed to invest ₹60,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh to set up multiple green energy projects in the State which was in addition to ₹22,000 crore it had already announced previously. 

The other investments of the company in Andhra Pradesh included a 6-GW PV ingot-wafer plant, a 2-GW pumped hydro project, a 300-ktpa green ammonia facility and 5 GW of hybrid projects, including wind-solar and solar-BESS initiatives.
