Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka left Wednesday’s practice after appearing to suffer an injury.

Egbuka limped off the field alongside athletic trainers before being examined on the sideline. He remained on the training table for an extended period and had not returned to practice at the time of the report.

Via NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo,

“Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka limped off with athletic trainers. Was examined on the sideline table for a while. Hard to see exactly what’s up from where we are but he’s still on the table and hasn’t returned.”

The exact nature and severity of the injury were not immediately clear. The Buccaneers will likely provide more information once Egbuka is evaluated further.

The timing is worth watching closely for Tampa Bay. Egbuka enters his second NFL season with increased expectations after catching 63 passes for 938 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie.

With Mike Evans no longer in Tampa Bay, Egbuka is expected to play an even larger role in the Buccaneers’ passing attack this season. Any injury involving him could therefore become a major concern for the team.
