State Assistance For Local Projects

HARRISBURG –State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Jamie Flick (R-83) announced $4 million has been awarded to three Lycoming County projects through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).

“These investments will help modernize facilities, expand workforce training opportunities, strengthen advanced manufacturing and improve essential public services for residents,” Yaw said. “I’m pleased to have worked with Rep. Flick to secure this funding and look forward to seeing these projects move forward.”

“These funds help our area move forward with long-stated goals,” said Flick. “We want to increase employment opportunities through competitive workforce training programs and hopefully keep those skilled workers in the area. We are strengthening manufacturing capabilities and improving infrastructure to care for the safety and wellbeing of our residents. I am grateful for the continued partnership with Sen. Yaw to ensure we are moving ahead in a positive direction.”

The following entities in Lycoming County received funding:

  • Pennsylvania College of Technology –$1.5 million for construction at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center in Clinton Township to allow expansion and enhancement of the College’s diesel, heavy construction and electric power generation technician degrees.
  • Textron, LLC –$1.5 million for its Lycoming Engines Building 2 refurbishment project, including an electrical system upgrade, construction of new restrooms, demolition of flooring, a concrete floor overlay, interior painting and exterior roof repairs.
  • Lycoming County –$1 million for upgrades and renovations to the County Coroner’s Office.

“This $1.5 million investment from the commonwealth represents an important step forward for Pennsylvania College of Technology as we continue to strengthen workforce education in support of Pennsylvania’s economy,” said President Mike Reed. “We are grateful to Gov. Josh Shapiro for his commitment to investing in projects that expand opportunity, and to Rep. Jamie Flick and Sen. Gene Yaw for their tireless advocacy on behalf of Penn College and our region. This funding provides key support for a vital capital project that will enhance our ability to prepare the next generation of highly skilled technicians for Pennsylvania’s diesel, heavy equipment and power generation industries.”

RACP is administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act. They must have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues or other measures of economic activity.
