Nearly $2 million in state funding for traffic safety improvements has been awarded in Lycoming and Union counties through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) “Green Light-Go” program, according to Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23)

HARRISBURG – Nearly $2 million in state funding for traffic safety improvements has been awarded in Lycoming and Union counties through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) “Green Light-Go” program, according to Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23)

A total of $1,979,340.49 was awarded to the following municipalities:

Lycoming County 

  • Montoursville Borough – $422,969 for traffic signal modernization at the intersection of Route 2014 and Willow Street/Winters Lane.
  • City of Williamsport – $400,157 to upgrade traffic signals and pedestrian infrastructure at the intersection of Little League Boulevard and Market Street.

Union County 

  • East Buffalo Township – $199,562.32 for traffic signal modernization at the intersections of Route 15 and Market Street and Route 15 and Saint Mary Street.
  • Lewisburg Borough – $445,057.02 for traffic signal modernization at the intersection of Route 15 and Saint Mary Street.
  • Lewisburg Borough – $511,595.15 for traffic signal modernization at the intersection of Route 15 and Buffalo Road.

Statewide, 86 municipalities received $38 million to support traffic signal upgrades, increasing safety and mobility across Pennsylvania’s communities through PennDOT’s “Green Light-Go” program.

Green Light-Go grants are provided as reimbursement to municipalities for updates to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. Funding may be utilized for a range of operational improvements including, but not limited to, light-emitting diode (LED) technology installation, traffic signal retiming, developing special event plans and monitoring traffic signals, as well as upgrading traffic signals to the latest technologies.
