According to first responders, had apparently been forgotten inside the car for an extended period.
United Hatzalah paramedic Netanel Eitan, together with EMTs Aryeh Mendelzon and Itzik Mishkovsky, said: “We were told at the scene that the child had been left in the vehicle for a prolonged period. We provided initial medical treatment before he was evacuated to the hospital in critical condition.”
MDA crews also administered advanced life support and performed prolonged resuscitation efforts after finding the child unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, and suffering from severe signs of heatstroke.
MDA senior EMT Chaim Shavit and EMT Yosef Yitzhak Sagiv said: “We received a report of a child found unconscious inside a vehicle. When we arrived, a 5-year-old boy was brought to us unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, and showing severe signs of heatstroke. We immediately began advanced resuscitation efforts, including chest compressions and assisted ventilation, and evacuated him by intensive care ambulance to the hospital in critical condition while fighting to save his life.”
Hatzalah EMT Mordechai Stein added: “When I arrived at the scene with my MDA ambulance, I found a 5-year-old boy unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, after being forgotten inside a vehicle. Together with EMTs and paramedics from Hatzalah and MDA, we carried out advanced resuscitation efforts before transporting him, while continuing CPR, to the trauma room at Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh) in Tzrifin.”
United Hatzalah once again urged the public to follow strict safety precautions and never leave children unattended in vehicles, even for a moment. The organization also called on members of the public to remain vigilant during the hot summer months and check parked vehicles for children who may have been accidentally left behind.
