3 hospitalized after car crashes into guardrail in Norwalk

Three people are hospitalized after a crash in the area of Connecticut Avenue and Elmcrest Terrace Sunday evening, firefighters said.
The police and fire department responded to the incident around 5:08 p.m. When crews arrived, they witnessed a single-car accident in which the vehicle was traveling northbound and struck a guardrail at a high rate of speed, according to officials. After the car hit the guardrail, it traveled about 100 feet before coming to a stop.

According to officials, two male passengers were ejected from the vehicle and found on the opposite side of the guardrail / chain-link fence.
Firefighters along with Connecticut State Troopers and Norwalk police were able to locate and remove both parties while rendering CPR and patient care, officials said. The two passengers were turned over to Norwalk EMS for additional care and transport.
Officials mentioned, a female driver was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. The driver was transported by Westport EMS to Norwalk Hospital.
A third female passenger was uninjured and was found walking outside the vehicle.
The conditions of the three people that were hospitalized are unknown at this time.
Connecticut State Police along with Norwalk police are investigating the incident.
