Skies turn mostly sunny after early thunderstorms move out for Thursday

The morning thunderstorms moved out by 8 a.m., and the skies turned mostly sunny for the remainder of the day.
The temperatures will warm up to the low 80s for Thursday.
Overnight Wednesday into early Thursday morning, powerful thunderstorms caused significant damage across parts of New Haven County.

The damage was caused by straight-line winds, not a microburst or tornado, according to our meteorologists and the National Weather Service.

A peak wind gust of 103 mph was measured at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven around 1:30 a.m., with another nearby gust reaching 86 mph.
The path of damage stretched from Milford through Orange and continued into New Haven and East Haven near Cosey Beach.
In Orange and Milford, the storm snapped utility poles and damaged dozens of trees along Marsh Hill Road, Executive Lane, and Cascade Boulevard. Orange police said similar damage was reported in neighboring areas of Milford and West Haven. A business on Cascade Boulevard also sustained a partial building collapse.
Cleanup efforts are underway, but some roads will remain closed for a while on Thursday.
 Tomorrow looks nice and the weekend looks fair as of now.
