The Rogers Charity Classic has received a significant boost with two additional golf stars joining the field for Calgary’s PGA TOUR Champions stop next week.

World Golf Hall of Famer Padraig Harrington and two-time major champion Zach Johnson have confirmed they will be teeing it up at Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club.

Johnson has wasted little time establishing himself as one of the PGA TOUR Champions’ biggest stars. Since becoming eligible for the senior circuit earlier this year, the 12-time PGA TOUR winner has captured four victories, including his most recent triumph at the Portugal Invitational on Aug. 2, to climb to second in the Charles Schwab Cup standings.

The 50-year-old American has recorded nine top-five finishes in just 11 starts during a sensational rookie campaign heading into the Aug. 17-23 Rogers Charity Classic.

Harrington sits one spot behind Johnson in the standings after adding another major championship to his remarkable career at the U.S. Senior Open in July.

The 54-year-old Irishman has posted five additional top-five finishes this season.

“Calgary is very well-known amongst the players as one of the better weeks of the year, so I definitely wanted to come back,” said Harrington, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2024.

“This event has raised great money over the years, and the community comes out and supports it, which is always so important for an event. The golf course is very pleasant, the greens are excellent, and my game has been in great shape, so I am looking forward to the week.”

Harrington made history as the first Irishman in 60 years to win the Open Championship in 2007 before successfully defending the Claret Jug in 2008, becoming the first European in nearly a century to accomplish the feat. Later that year, he captured the PGA Championship for his third major title, helping propel him to No. 3 in the world rankings.

Harrington owns 42 professional victories worldwide and returns to Calgary looking to improve on his career-best Rogers Charity Classic finish of tied for third in 2022.

Johnson also boasts one of the game’s most decorated résumés.

The Iowa resident’s career is highlighted by wins at the 2007 Masters and the 2015 Open Championship. He also captained the United States at the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome.

Harrington becomes the fourth World Golf Hall of Famer in the 78-player field, joining Bernhard Langer, Retief Goosen and Vijay Singh as they battle for the iconic white Stetson. Other stars coming to Calgary include Canadian legend Mike Weir, Tom Lehman, David Duval, Rocco Mediate and Miguel Angel Jiménez.
