Ahead of his inauguration as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has met with the Minister of Power, Chief Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe.

The REA Board is scheduled to be inaugurated at 10:00 a.m. today, Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Ministry of Power headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

President Bola Tinubu had earlier appointed Fayose as Chairman of the REA Board.

According to the Presidency, Fayose will head the REA Board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members and non-executive directors, while the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors will complete the board.

Ahead of the inauguration, Fayose met with the Minister of Power in his office. He said the meeting focused on plans to enhance the effectiveness of the Rural Electrification Agency.

“I met with the Minister of Power, Chief Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, today, and we had fruitful discussions,” Fayose said.
