After nearly a quarter of a century tucked away in storage, this 1971 Chevrolet Corvette is finally seeing daylight again — and looking for a new owner.

The car, a low mileage 36,000 mile Stingray, has been with the same family since late 1989. Now it’s up for grabs on eBay, where bidding has reached $6,200 with about four days remaining. The listing, based out of Fall River, Massachusetts, details a car that’s equal parts time capsule and project.

The seller explains that the Corvette originally left the factory in Nevada Silver with a red interior — a rare combination for 1971. At some point during its life in Florida, the car was repainted Daytona Yellow, fitted with a big block/LT 1 hood, and had its interior dyed black. Scratches on the dash still reveal the original red underneath, confirming the factory panels remain intact.

Under the skin, the car retains its matching numbers 350/270 hp engine, TH400 automatic, and 3.08 Positraction rear end. It was originally sold new at Dick Connely Chevrolet in Homestead, Florida, and comes with unusually complete documentation, including the GM Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin and a packet of ownership history obtained from the Florida registry back in 1989 — paperwork the seller notes you can’t get anymore.

The birdcage and frame are described as being in excellent condition, and the car is well optioned with A/C, power windows, power steering, power brakes, tilt/tele steering wheel, factory alarm, and a dealer installed luggage rack. Even more impressive: it still carries its original Firestone white stripe Super Sport spare tire, a rarity on any unrestored C3.

The Corvette was treated more like a pride piece than a cruiser, spending most of the last 36 years in a dry, heated garage. It last saw regular road use in 2002, sidelined by family circumstances. Recently, the seller began the process of bringing it back to life, installing a new gas tank and sending unit, fresh hoses, new brake calipers and pads, a high torque starter, ignition components, and more. The car currently runs, drives, and stops, though the seller notes it will need additional sorting once someone puts real miles on it.

It comes with extra parts, including a red steering column with the original wheel, the factory driver’s mirror, and the original carburetor (the car currently uses a carb from a ’78 L82). The passenger power window is slow — likely old grease, the seller believes — and the rear window storage tray is said to be in mint condition.

Photos show the hood resting on its latches rather than fully closed, a detail the seller clarified in an update. “It does close,” he says.

After more than two decades off the road, this 1971 Corvette is finally ready for someone new to take the wheel — whether as a restoration project, a preservation piece, or a return to original spec labor of love. Is it headed to your home?
