Chevrolet has issued a new Stop Sale notice which affects C8 Corvettes from the 2025 and 2026 model years. The issue stems from the Rear Brake Light Outage Detection in a lighting module for the rear brake lights. It means that drivers may not be alerted if they have a rear turn signal lamp that is not working.

GM has identified 2,886 Corvettes from 2026 and 438 Corvettes from 2025 with the issue. From what we have heard, there is currently only a fix available for the 2026 model years cars. The good news is that service departments will only have to do a software flash or Over-the-Air (OTA) update to fix the problem.

According to the our friends at the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com, there is not yet a fix for any of the 438 Corvettes from the 2025 model year affected. Dealers will not be able to deliver any new 2025s or 2026s affected with this lighting issue until the patch can be applied.

As the Stop Sale Notice only affects those new cars that have to be delivered, we are unsure if any 2025s or 2026s identified with the problem were delivered to customers. As GM does have the VINs, we suggest checking the GM Recalls website at https://experience.gm.com/ownercenter/recalls
