Did you get the call yesterday from your dealer about your 2027 Corvette order?

Chevrolet kicked off the latest two week order cycle yesterday by sending allocations to dealers. This is now the 7th ordering cycle of the 2027 model year. We spoke with several dealers to find out what they got and the numbers involved, and while dealers may not have received all they wanted, we did see a mix of all six C8 Corvette models covered from Stingray to ZR1X.

What surprised me about this consensus was that each of these dealers got a very small number of Stingrays, as the base C8 models are making up 42.5% of current production which is the highest of the six models. However, Grand Sports seem to be in good supply and all dealers I spoke with got a Grand Sport X as well.

Next Thursday, these allocations will be matched with customers orders and submitted to GM for acceptance. We’ll also get the updated constraint report, which really shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that’s been watching the limited carbon fiber aero availabilities.

Production Notes

We’ve been watching the daily production counts from Roger Kiel’s C8 Production Tracker as we wait for the first Grand Sport X models to be produced. I was hoping for something this week, but it looks like they will start coming off the line next week.

We do see that there was some sort of issue at the plant on Monday as just 71 cars were completed which is likely the total for just one shift instead of two. However, Tuesday’s production count rebounded with 128 produced and the Wednesday production number was 148.

There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason for the way cars are shipping out of the plant, and a recent photo posted on the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com shows the shipping lot looking the fullest we’ve seen all year.

And finally, we are hearing that the stripe installers at the assembly plant have been busier than ever as stripe quantities have dramatically increased with the demand of the new Grand Sport. We will be watching to see if this turns into a backlog of cars. I need to get special agent 007 aka Katie’s Husband to do another fly-over!
