Chevrolet Performance once again hit the road this summer with some very cool vehicles that participated in the 2026 Hot Rod Power Tour. Today, they dropped this recap video that gives us an insiders view of the event that includes seeing how these cars were prepped beforehand at the Milford Proving Grounds to witnessing the crowds of auto enthusiasts checking out the cars at different stops along historic Route 66 from Illinois to Oklahoma.

Automotive creator Garrett Reed (@americanmusclehd) hitched a ride with Chevrolet Performance for their 5-Day, 5-City Hot Rod Power Tour, and he was also able to enter the special garage at the proving ground where all the Chevy vehicles were set up.

Two C8 Corvettes were part of this year’s Hot Rod Power Tour. The Corvette ZR1X Ice Racer wearing a Mobil 1 livery led the way followed by a Roswell Green Corvette Z06 Convertible with Carbon Fiber Aero, Cup 2R tires, and carbon ceramic brakes.

The Heritage/Classic builds on the Hot Rod Power Tour included:

1953 Suburban: Body-swapped onto a lengthened, widened ’09 Trailblazer SS chassis (rear-wheel drive), now packing an LS3 525 with a 6-speed auto; originally toured in 2011 as “The Detailer” and returning for 2026.

1970 Chevelle SS (Yenko Heritage Collection) — originally a 396 car, later had an LS7, now rebuilt with Chevy Performance’s brand-new EFI 502 big block (custom intake + PFI) — praised for starting instantly, idling smoothly, and running ice-cold AC despite being a big block.

1969 “Slammer” Chevelle — on air ride, upgraded brakes, classic carbureted 502 (605 hp), essentially unchanged from its last tour 2 years ago.

Chevrolet also sent along several support vehicles including a Traverse, Colorado, Silverado, and the Suburban. One of the stars of each stop was an engine stand featuring a Chevrolet 632 crate engine with 1,004 horsepower. They would start it up and give it a few revs much to the delight of the crowds.
