If a recent post by an alleged Samsung developer is anything to go by, then it looks like the Galaxy S21 FE might very well receive the One UI 8.5 update soon.
Up until now, it was uncertain whether Samsung’s Fan Edition device launched in 2022 would get the newer skin. In fact, earlier reporting from SamMobile showed that customer care reps were telling people the S21 FE wouldn’t get it, but customer care is rarely a reliable source for firmware information.
And if this new information shared by an account named SamsungDevIndia on the company’s community forums is accurate, then it’s yet another reason why we should take details shared by support staff with a grain of salt.
The user shared what they claim to be screenshots from their Samsung Developers app showing test server schedules. In one of those screenshots, we can see that the update is currently marked as “Pending” for the Galaxy S21 FE, with a note saying “Scheduled: June”.
The same screenshots then made their way over to X as well.

From what I was able to deduce, a healthy dose of skepticism is definitely needed here. The user carries a basic Active Level 1 rank on the forums, which is not great for an insider.
Still, the screenshots do appear to be legit. We already saw the software rolling out widely to flagships earlier this month. So S21 FE users who’ve been waiting patiently for the update might not have to wait that much longer.

However, you might want to tame your excitement for the update, since it arrived missing key software additions like Now Nudge, and also removes useful features like the option to hide the battery percentage.
