A budget airline at Logan Airport will debut first class seating in 2027.

Las Vegas-based Allegiant will roll out premium seating called Allegiant First on select aircraft in the spring, the airline recently announced. It is the airline’s latest step in its long-term strategy to modernize the passenger experience, according to the company.

The seating will consist of eight seats configured two-by-two in the front of the plane. The seats will have a five-inch recline, calf rests, an adjustable headrest, and a 37-inch pitch.

Travelers in Allegiant First will also enjoy enhanced amenities and priority access to check in and board flights. The fare will include one personal item, one carry-on bag, and one checked bag.

“This is about giving customers more ways to travel with us,” said Drew Wells, chief commercial officer for Allegiant, in a statement. “Travelers are increasingly looking for more comfort, more personalization and more flexibility, and these new offerings are a meaningful step forward in delivering that.”

The new product will complement – not replace – Allegiant Extra, an upgrade option on select flights.

Allegiant First seats go on sale in mid August.

The airline also began offering complimentary beverages on Aug. 1. Previously, customers paid for beverages. Passengers now enjoy an in-flight service of soft drinks such as soda, juice, and water.

Allegiant and Sun Country Airlines merged in May, but will continue to operate as separate brands for the next 18 to 24 months during the transition period. Allegiant operates out of Terminal E at Logan International Airport.
