A Vermont retreat may have a new look, but there’s one thing that hasn’t changed after nearly 50 years — the panoramic view of the Green Mountains.

Travelers have been staying at The Manchester View since 1977. The independently owned hotel, which is under new stewardship, just completed a renovation that honors its history, according to the team.

“This has always been a special place because of where it sits,” said Lori Parker, general manager of The Manchester View, in a statement. “Our responsibility was never to change its character. It was to preserve everything guests have always loved while thoughtfully renewing the experience for today. Every decision was made to strengthen the connection between our guests, the property, and the landscape that defines it.”

The 36 guest rooms and suites now feature warm woods, natural textures, handcrafted furnishings, and soft light. Many of the rooms include fireplaces, and nearly every room opens to a private balcony or terrace overlooking the Green Mountains.

Guests can also rent special rooms on the property such as The Cottage, a 356 square-foot queen bedroom cottage with a private front porch and fireplace, and The Loft, a 625 square-foot king bedroom studio with cathedral ceilings, a private terrace, and a fireplace.

Travelers enjoy a complimentary breakfast between 7 and 10 a.m. at Owl’s Head, the property’s breakfast room, which includes locally-baked pastries, seasonal fruit, and Vermont coffee.

Throughout the day, guests have access to Vermont cheeses and local craft beer, available at the hotel’s lobby market called The Shelf.

The property has a seasonal outdoor pool, a year-round hot tub, and outside fire pits for gathering.

Located minutes from downtown Manchester, guests have easy access to Southern Vermont’s shops, galleries, and hiking trails. Day trips include Lye Brook Falls, driving the Mount Equinox Skyline Drive, and attending the Manchester Music Festival (which kicked off July 7 and runs through Sept. 6). During the winter, skiers can enjoy nearby Stratton and Bromley mountains.

The hotel team plans to offer off-site catering services for group gatherings and private events.

The hotel is dog friendly, and the starting rate is $139 per night.
