Celine

It’ll be tempting to sing a few bars from “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” Céline Dion’s 1996 ballad, when you walk into this French-Canadian restaurant, once it opens in Fort Point in late September. There might be a sense of familiarity for a number of reasons. From the team—Coda Restaurant Group, the company behind favorites like Baleia, Gufo, the Salty Pig, SRV–to the long-vacant space, which was once home to chef Ming Tsai’s Asian gastropub, Blue Dragon. The minimalist, post-modern design will feature turmeric banquettes, a custom rounded black-and-white tile floor, and reef-green tiling under the bar. Menu details are under wraps, but expect lots more than poutine.

Jafra Café & Lounge

Let the moody interiors and Levantine flavors lure you into this new restaurant and hookah lounge in Inman Square. Bring the pals and dig into mezze and small plates, from hand-rolled falafel, to fresh-baked flatbreads topped with za’atar or cheeses, to hummus sprinkled with sumac. House specialties showcase Palestinian comfort foods, like kufta b’siniya bandora—or oven-baked beef and lamb meatballs in a rich tomato sauce kicked up by jalapeños and Middle Eastern spices—and meatballs in a zippy tahini sauce with golden potatoes. Linger long over desserts of baklava and syrup-infused semolina cakes, too. Matcha, Moroccan teas, and an espresso program brings the buzz.

Mochiko Hawaiian

This tropical-chic restaurant in Newton just expanded with larger digs in Brighton, bringing milk teas, vivid mocktails, fried chicken, and a retro gaming aesthetic to Boston Landing. Fried chicken is the star of the show—crispy, perfect, piled high with various toppings on sweet Kings Hawaiian rolls, or served as plates with sticky rice and toppings like Thai curry. Açai bowls and snacky bites like hot dogs, hash browns, and seaweed-wrapped spam and rice pair with passionfruit iced teas and pineapple smoothies. More elbow room in Brighton means an expanded menu that includes dirty sodas and Hawaiian barbeque plates—including braised brisket, chicken thighs, and pork chops—served with furikake-topped sticky rice, macaroni salad, and sauce.

Scrappie’s. – Andrew Blau/Scrappie’sScrappie’s Pizzeria

Good news for those who’ve been trying for months (and months!) to snag one of Boston’s most coveted pizzas. Scrappie’s Pizzeria—an always-soldout weekly takeout popup out of Brick Street Bagels in South Boston—is expanding. Founder Andrew Blau’s pizzas are made with dough that incorporates a “flour” he developed of pulverized leftover bread sourced from Beacon Hill eateries. The crisp, tangy crust is the palette for playful pies like the bianco white pizza (which features a base of miso caesar sauce) and a spicy pepperoni with pickled chili peppers and a drizzle of Mike’s Hot Honey. Blau only offers around 80 pies a week that customers reserve beforehand online, and the pizzas sell out in seconds. Blau confirmed to Boston.com that a Scrappie’s brick-and-mortar is coming to Beacon Hill late September or early October within the space of the now-shuttered Figs. In recent months Blau has been experimenting with focaccia and sandwiches, so here’s hoping that the expanded digs means more menu options. Though, his pizzas are perfect enough to stand on their own.

Bonus: “Jaws” Clambake Movie Night

What summer without hearing that classic line, “You’re gonna need a bigger boat?” Head to Summer Shack in Cambridge to watch the 1975 horror cult classic that instilled a fear of sharks into generations of beachgoers on the big screen. This event includes a screening of the movie and a clambake dinner that includes a one-pound lobster, clams, mussels, chorizo, potato, corn on the cob, plus New England clam chowder and shortcake with fresh berries and whipped cream for dessert. Special shark-themed cocktails make a splash, too.
