Annotation. The article critically analyzes the translation of «Supply Chain Management» (SCM) into Russian. Following an investigation of the concept’s foundational literature, the study justifies a refined translation of the term as «Management of Supply Chains», based on the fundamental categories of supply and demand and M. Porter’s value chain theory.
Key words. Logistics, SCM, management of supply chains, material flow, value chain, value stream, activity-based approach, capital theory, economic ontology, business processes, economic flow, margin potential, systemic efficiency.
