I am trying to profile aluminum for the first time and need some advice. Everything went well with a wood test project, but I am failing at alumimum. First I was getting a lot of chatter so I upped the speed and things seemed to smooth out, but then the bit jammed for some reason and gouged my part badly. Originally I was doing .5mm passes. I dropped it to .4mm and then down to .1mm passes. I thought it seemed to be chugging along nicely again and then it jammed again and I noted there was aluminum built up on the outside of the bit -- not in the flute, which was clean, and the leading point on the cutting edge of my bit had chipped. I am using an Anolex 3060 Evo Max with 800w router.I am trying to cut T6061 6511 aluminum. The blank is 5/8" thick by 5" (127.2mm) wide by 14" long.I am (was) using a 1/4" Eanosic carbide 0 flute end mill.Here are my settings: What is the best bit to cut this aluminum plate? Am I using the wrong bit?Should I be doing multiple roughing passes when profiling my part?Do my speeds and feeds look correct? Any tips or advice are welcome. If you need more info let me know. I've attached the .NC file. I tried to attach an *.f3z file and also a *.3mf file but they were rejected for some reason.
