Daniel Craig's James Bond swimming trunks from the 007 movie Skyfall have sold at auction in the US for a whopping £2,157.

Not to be confused with his iconic Casino Royale blue swimwear, which he is seen wearing as he emerges from the sea, Skyfall also saw Daniel sport a pair of tiny trunks.

The actor, 57, sported the pair of light blue trunks as he swam across a 'rooftop pool in Shanghai' in the 2012 film - though the scene was actually shot at the Four Seasons Hotel in London's Canary Wharf.

Now, said Skyfall trunks have sold at auction in Los Angeles, California, for an eye-watering amount.

Bidding for the trunks started at just $200 (£150) and the trunks were bought at Julien's Auctions for $2,880 (£2,157) on Wednesday.

Surprisingly however this was $2,120 (£1,558) under the estimate.

In the movie, MI6 comes under attack after a former agent Raoul Silva - played by Javier Bardem.

He seeks revenge against M - aka Judi Dench - for betraying him years earlier.

A Julien's Auctions spokesperson said of the trunks: 'A light blue bathing suit as seen worn by Daniel Craig as James Bond.

'From the production of the film Skyfall, Eon Productions, 2012. Includes a framed shadowbox display with scenes from the film.'

Daniel revealed how he found out he landed the role of James Bond and how he celebrated during a new interview in Milan, Italy, back in March.

The actor took on the role of 007 in Casino Royale back in 2006 and went on to star four more films, Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021).

Now, Daniel, who was sworn to secrecy about the role at the time, revealed that he found out the news in a supermarket and had to celebrate alone.

Speaking to host Fabio Fazio to promote new film Queer on Italian TV show Che Tempo Che Fa, he said: 'When I found out I was in the supermarket.

'I had this trolley full of food, I gave it a shove, I threw it aside, I took a bottle of vodka and I said, "Now I'm going to have a Martini!"'.

Daniel added on the legendary role: 'Even today I look at these images and I can hardly believe it. I still can't get over it, it was such an important part of my life'.

For the TV appearance, Daniel cut a dapper figure in a beige double breasted Giorgio Armani suit which he teamed with a white shirt.

He added a patterned brown tie and rocked a pair of chunky brown suede boots to complete his ensemble.

Daniel wore his long locks swept over to one side and sported a grey stubble beard.

As a new era begins for Bond, the search has begun for an actor fit to play Britain's most iconic character.

Various big-name stars have been linked with the coveted role in recent years - including Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jacob Elordi and Harris Dickinson.

The franchise's 26th film will go into production next April at Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire.

Steven Knight, who created Peaky Blinders, will be tasked with writing the storyline, and director Denis Villeneuve is set on casting an unknown Brit as James Bond. Denis is reportedly set to lead the search for the next James Bond.

The long-running film franchise has been without a lead since Daniel Craig starred as Bond in 2021's No Time to Die.

The 57-year-old director - who is set to direct his first-ever Bond movie - has been trusted to find the ideal actor to lead the franchise forward.

He intends to focus his attention on the task after he completes production on Dune: Part Three, according to Deadline, which reports that the filmmaker is seeking a 'fresh face' for the role.

It's also emerged that the next Bond will be male, as written by creator Ian Fleming, and he'll also hail from the British Isles.

However, the new Bond won't be announced until 2026, despite years of comment and speculation about the franchise's future.
