Judy is the duo of Diners' Blue Broderick and Agriculture's Leah Levinson. They linked up in December as a songwriting and recording exercise, cooking up two EPs in five days. The first, Songs OF Mutt And Hate, dropped in April. The second, Death Of A Ladies' Mutt (you get it) is out next week, and its lead single "Denim Girls" is available to stream now.

Songs Of Mutt And Hate saw Broderick and Levinson delving into the realm of raw, fuzzed-out power-pop with eminently tuneful results. "Denim Girls" continues on that wavelength. When I say it sounds like early Weezer channeling the Velvet Underground, I say it with enthusiasm. Judy's lyrical fixation on the trials and travails of dating continues here too: "The money and the pills/ The music and the thrills/ I'd give it all for denim girls."
