MOSCOW, July 27. /TASS/. The ruble-denominated MOEX Index gained 2.18% to end Monday's main trading session at 2,212.81 points, while the dollar-denominated RTS Index climbed 2.2% to 893.5 points. The yuan edged up by 7 kopecks to 11.55 rubles.

"The MOEX Index kicked off the week with a strong rally, easily breaking above the 2,200 resistance level. Geopolitical hopes and the Central Bank's unexpected key interest rate cut boosted market sentiment," Andrey Smirnov, a stock market expert at BCS World of Investments, said.

"Eurotrans shares (+23.3%) surged on no specific news. However, the rally was likely triggered by the Moscow Exchange's ban on opening short positions for these shares and a hike in market risk rates to 100%, which curbed speculative selling," Natalia Milchakova, lead analyst at Freedom Global, noted.

RussNeft shares (-3.9%) led the declines, apparently taking a hit from a slump in global oil prices, she added.

BCS World of Investments expects the MOEX Index to trade between 2,125 and 2,255 points on Tuesday, with the ruble projected at 77-79 per dollar and 11.4-11.7 per yuan.

Freedom Global expects the MOEX Index to trade in the 2,150-2,250 range on Tuesday. The forecast for the dollar, euro, and yuan is 77-79 rubles, 87-89 rubles, and 11.3-11.8 rubles, respectively.

Tsifra Broker points out that a moderately positive mood persists in the market despite sluggish oil performance. Selective demand driven by sector rotation could push the MOEX Index further toward 2,250 points. On the FX market, a mild ruble depreciation toward the upper bounds of 11.4-11.7 per yuan, 77-79 per US dollar, and 87-89 per euro is anticipated.
