Indian Railways has approved a ₹206-crore project to deploy Kavach Version 4.0, India's indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, on 680 route kilometres of the Rewari–Delhi and Shakurbasti–Bathinda sections of Northern Railway. Designed to prevent train collisions, Kavach 4.0 automatically monitors train movements, applies brakes when required. The latest version also features improved train positioning, better signalling integration and faster communication, making it ready for large-scale deployment across India's rail network.
