MOSCOW, September 23. /TASS/. Russia’s coal production is projected to increase by 49% from 442 mln tons in 2024 to 662 mln tons in 2050 under the target scenario of the program for the coal sector’s development. Output is expected to reach 530.1 mln tons in 2030 (up by 19% compared to 2024), and 595.2 mln tons in 2036 (up by 34%), according to the program approved by the government.

The conservative scenario suggests that Russia’s coal production will total 454 mln tons in 2030, 460.5 mln tons in 2036, and 460.8 mln tons in 2050. Output is projected at 491.6 mln tons, 545.3 mln tons in 2036, and 586.4 mln tons in 2050, respectively, under the status quo scenario. The stress scenario implies a decrease in coal production to 438.3 mln tons in 2030, 381.3 mln tons in 2036, and 318.9 mln tons in 2050.

Domestic coal supplies are expected to rise from 179 mln tons in 2024 to 199.2 mln tons in 2030, 202.8 mln tons in 2036, and 231.7 mln tons in 2050 under the target scenario.
