A lot of people don't know this, but an emotion only lasts about 90 seconds. When a feeling arises, the response in your body is brief. After that, it's not the emotion that lingers, but the story you attach to it. That's why emotions can feel like they last for hours or days, because we keep feeding them with our thoughts, replaying situations, and reinforcing the feeling. The key isn't to suppress emotions but to notice when you're the one keeping them alive.
