IRU and TransFollow have joined forces to accelerate market acceptance and uptake of fully digital road freight and logistics with the eCMR standard.

Through a strategic partnership with IRU, TransFollow, one of the first and leading eCMR solution providers, will help advance digital tools that make road transport more efficient, sustainable and connected.

The partnership will drive awareness, education and adoption of the eCMR standard in Europe with the logistics sector, its clients and its regulators.

TransFollow is also part of IRU’s newly formed eCMR technical expert group developing common global standards, processes and practices for digitally exchanging freight data. Given the high degree of fragmentation between existing eCMR offerings, the group aims to improve interoperability among eCMR solutions.

IRU Senior Director of Strategy and Development Vincent Erard said, “Digitalisation is transforming road transport. IRU and TransFollow share the vision of common global standards, processes and practices. By working together, we can accelerate the adoption of practical digital tools that power more efficient transport operations.”

TransFollow Managing Director Alexis Perinet-Marquet said, “We are proud that by joining forces with IRU, we can promote and facilitate the adoption of digital transport documentation and processes in cross-border road freight, contributing to truly paperless and connected transport.”

Going beyond eCMR, TransFollow provides seamless information sharing and real-time visibility between all stakeholders involved in every shipment – available via API, web portal, mobile app and messaging tools – contributing to less paperwork, fewer errors, greater efficiency, transparency and sustainability of road freight.

TransFollow and IRU share deep roots. TransFollow was formed in 2013 as a joint venture initiative between IRU members EVOFenedex and TLN, before becoming a company in 2016.

eCMR is the standard for digital consignment notes, a protocol under the UN Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road.
