MOSCOW, August 11. /TASS/. Ukrainian refugees are being attacked in Poland and Polish politicians are calling to deport Ukrainians of draft age amid Kiev's glorification of Nazis, Russian Senator Alexander Voloshin from the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) told TASS.

Earlier, Andrzej Sliwka, a member of the Sejm (the lower house of parliament) from the largest opposition right-wing party Law and Justice, proposed to form a brigade or a division made up of unemployed Ukrainian citizens of draft age (between 25 and 60 years old), who are currently in the country, and send them to the frontline. He believes this could help solve the issue of "gangs of unemployed foreigners."

"For many years, the Ukrainian leadership has fostered the most radical forms of nationalism in Eastern Europe. We are talking about the glorification of open Hitler collaborators and war criminals, which met with legitimate condemnation not only in Russia and Belarus, but also in Poland, Israel and other countries. We are also talking about systematic discrimination against minorities. <…> Today, it boomerangs. The tragedy is that it is not Ukrainian officials and politicians who are paying the price for these irresponsible policies, but ordinary Ukrainian citizens who are now abroad," Voloshin said.

Earlier, Polish Deputy Interior Minister Czeslaw Mroczek reported that the number of crimes against Ukrainians increased by a third in Poland in 2025, with the rise specifically linked to ethnic hatred. "Just yesterday, Poland was considered almost Ukraine’s main ally, and today Polish officials are publicly explaining attacks on Ukrainians as something natural, thus normalizing anti-Ukrainian violence. This is yet another example of how Kiev’s irresponsible policies inevitably lead to tragedies for ordinary people, when in a neighboring European country, Ukrainians are reduced to becoming punching bags for Polish discontent," the diplomat added.

Between 1.8 and 1.9 million Ukrainian citizens are currently in Poland, with the exact number of Ukrainians being yet unknown to Polish authorities. In September 2025, Polish President Karol Nawrocki limited benefits for Ukrainian refugees. In particular, he narrowed down the list of free medical services and halted social benefit payments to unemployed Ukrainian citizens.
