CHISINAU, August 11. /TASS/. Moldova’s authorities tend to ignore threats to the world community originating from the West-backed terrorist regime in Kiev, the Russian embassy in Moldova said, commenting on Chisinau’s decision to recall its Ambassador to Moscow Lilian Darii for consultations after the crash of drone that had flown onto the republic from Ukraine.

"Once again, despite the lack of information regarding the drone’s ownership, radar detection and tracking, the Moldovan side rushed to place all the blame on our country. At the same time, official Chisinau prefer to turn a blind eye on to the obvious threats the Western-backed terrorist regime in Kiev is posing posed to its neighbors and the entire international community," the embassy said, adding that this is a common knowledge that Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) "is recruiting saboteurs for terror attacks and acts of sabotage in Russia in Moldova as well."

The embassy called on Chisinau to refrain from further escalatory steps that prove to be harmful for Moldovan citizens.

Each time debris from drones that had strayed into Moldovan airspace from Ukraine were found in Moldova, its authorities placed the blame for these incidents on Russia but never provided any evidence regarding which of the sides those drones belonged. Throughout the course of the special military operation, Moscow has repeatedly stressed that Russian forces are striking only military targets and related energy facilities in Ukraine and never violate airspace of neighboring countries. Such incidents in border areas often stem from the operation of Ukrainian air defense systems, Moscow has insisted.

Relations between Moldova and Russia became strained after Maia Sandu and her Party of Action and Solidarity came to power in 2021 and took the course toward breaking ties with Russia and the CIS countries. Such a policy has driven the country into an economic crisis. The opposition blames the authorities for yielding to the West’s pressure and steering the country along Ukraine’s scenario and demands early election. Meanwhile, the Russian foreign ministry has repeatedly said that Russia wants to have friendly relations with Moldova and is not happy to see this country being used by the West in its anti-Russian purposes.
