The three-day celebration of America’s Favorite Sports Car known as Corvettes at Carlisle will soon be here. The World’s largest Corvette show takes place on August 27-29 at the Carlisle, PA Fairgrounds and the final plans are all coming together.

The show will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the 1976 Corvette model year, and it’s the 30th anniversary of the 1996 Corvette Grand Sport which will also bring two of the five original 1963 Corvette Grand Sports to Carlisle. The Chip’s Choice display will be celebrating “Family Legacy” Corvettes which are those cherished Corvettes that have been passed on to family members. And finally, the GM Engineering Tent is where you can talk to the Corvette Engineers who designed and are building the C8 Corvettes.

For those attendees coming to Carlisle and are looking for something more to do than just park and sit in a couple of lawn chairs for the weekend, Corvettes at Carlisle offers a variety of events that cater to those participants that want to show off their Corvettes and their knowledge of all things Corvette.

Mr. Corvette Contest

There are actually two contests happening within the Mr. Corvette Contest. The first is that Mr. Corvette participants will take part in a short runway walk, answer a few humorous questions, and show off their best “Corvette owner confidence pose.” The second contest is the Twins Package contest in which participants dress to match their own Corvette. We’re talking a full-on twinning mode with an outfit that matches your car more closely than the paint sample board at your local Chevy dealership.

Autocross Your Corvette

One of the longstanding events at Corvettes at Carlisle is the Autocross competition and there are two different events for those who love driving around cones. The first is the King of X Competition driven by Lingenfelter Performance. It costs $20 to compete in one of three competition categories: C1-C4, C5-C6 and C7-C8. Each driver makes up to four runs of two laps each. All runs are timed and recorded, and the fastest qualifying runs earns those drivers a chance to participate in the Noon Saturday Shootout. Cash prizes of $200, $100, and $50 are available.

If you are less about setting the ultimate timed lap and more about just having fun, the AutoX Fun Laps are calling your name. Sponsored by the Cumberland Valley Corvette Club, the onsite autocross allows drivers to run the road course, compare times in a friendly competition, and it’s a great opportunity for those who have never participated in an autocross to try it for the first time. If you’ve always wondered how your Corvette may perform or how advanced you are at handling a track, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Annual Exhaust Competition Returns

Your Corvette certainly has the look, but does it also have the sound? In this popular event, participants have a chance to sound off their Corvette’s exhaust note on the Carlisle track with cheering onlookers judging the best overall sound, not necessarily the loudest.

The annual Exhaust Competition contest runs each day and consists of three rounds with a maximum of 10 Corvettes per round. It’s a first-come, first-accepted event so sign up early at Guest Services if you think your Corvette has what it takes. The Exhaust Competition is FREE, but you MUST be a registered Fun Field participant to be eligible to compete!

Fun for the Kids at Corvettes at Carlisle

Bringing your kids to Corvettes at Carlisle is a sign that you are doing parenting right, and Carlisle has plenty of activities to keep the youngest Corvette enthusiast engaged. First, stop by the Guest Services building to pick up a Kid’s Goody Bag which includes a coloring book, free cup with a coupon for a free drink at the food court, and more.

Kids under 12 years old can sign up to win an RC car, and there is also a Kids Cash Grab at the grand stands where they compete to take home as much cash as they can catch! Kids can also vote for their favorite Corvette within Building T and the owner of the car will receive Carlisle’s coveted Kid’s Choice Award!

Corvettes at Carlisle

Corvettes at Carlisle takes place on August 27-29 at the Carlisle, PA Fairgrounds. Gates open at 7:00 AM each day. Fun Field registration is available online through Monday of event week, while discounted spectator admission tickets are available throughout event weekend.
