TOMMY CONROY was an early arrival and was lively, and had the honour of the final score, too. Matthew Ruane brought energy, Rory Brickenden made one vital turnover, and Conor Loftus brought ball-playing comfort and experience at just the right time.

WHATEVER happens next, Andy Moran’s name is written in history, his legend imperishable in Mayo football.

From the Roscommon defeat to here is a scarcely believable journey, but he backed his tactics and his players, and his confidence was well-founded.
