Joe Biden announced in a Wednesday social media video that his long-expected book on his White House tenure would be published in mid-November.

The announcement was greeted with Republican scorn and Democratic relief. 

'What are the odds Joe Biden even knows he's releasing a book?' White House deputy press secretary Abigail Jackson posted in a mocking response.

Other users deployed memes and AI-generated imagery to punctuate their mockery of the former president, including a book titled I Forgot. 

Biden said the book, called Promise Me, America, would cover everything from addressing the COVID pandemic to his decision to drop out of the race. 

The publication date is November 17 - exactly two weeks after a crucial midterm Election Day. 

Michael LaRosa, a former spokesman for First Lady Jill Biden, credited the Bidens for timing any bombshells about the Democratic defeat to land after voting day.

'They certainly got the message from Democrats across the country who pleaded with them not to launch the book before the midterms,' LaRosa told the Daily Mail.

'That said, there is no politically safe place on the calendar for this memoir,' LaRosa added, suggesting it would inevitably pull Democrats backwards instead of forwards.

A former official from the Biden White House was more optimistic, telling the Daily Mail it seemed likely that 'by next year [the memoir] gets lost with the wind.' 

Conservatives didn't need to worry about the timing to find a criticism of the former President. 

'How do you write a book when you couldn't even write your own name?' Joseph Meaden wondered on X, referencing Biden's end-of-term use of an autopen.

'You couldn't even sign pardons???' conservative personality Graham Allen wrote. 'No one believes you wrote or even narrated a book for a ghost writer.' 

Questions about Biden's age and mental fitness were a focus in conservative circles for years, and concerns exploded after his disastrous debate performance in June 2024.

The longtime senator's frequent verbal stumbles and off-color appearance throughout the night prompted widespread Democratic panic that eventually saw him withdraw from the race. 

Republicans, Donald Trump most notably, have relentlessly gone after Biden for his apparent aging issues, even as some have raised concerns about Trump's own health.

Labeling the former president 'Sleepy Joe,' Trump often mocks Biden's end-of-term use of an autopen to sign pardons and commutations.

As recently as May, Trump posted an AI-generated image of Biden sleeping in the Oval Office while Barack Obama holds a box labeled 'autopen' and a woman signs a document in front of Biden.

Some Democrats had previously been incensed by Jill's June memoir, characterizing it as an attention grab that distracted from important political issues.

A spokesman for Biden did not respond to requests for comment.
