Harrowing video captured the moment a seaplane carrying eight people hit the choppy waters of New York City’s East River in a hard landing that left the aircraft partially submerged.

Footage from inside the plane shared with The Post captured the moment the Kodiak 100 hit the East River as it approached the Skyport terminal along 23rd Street and FDR Drive.

A loud boom could be heard when the plane first hits the waters, with the passengers inside audibly gasping before the entire aircraft is rocked the next second.

The nervous passengers all appear to brace themselves as the plane is knocked up and down against the waves before it comes to a stop, with nervous laughter filling the aircraft.

“Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!” several passengers could be heard saying as sirens flared.

As the plane was left bobbing in the water with one wing submerged, the two pilots instructed the passengers to remain calm and keep their life vests close at hand, subsequent video showed.

Khloe Todd, 16, said her family was coming back from a birthday party trip in East Hampton when the incident unfolded.

“It was a crash, a very bad one,” she said, adding that her grandma, Ada, was shaken up by the impact.   

“She’s really not feeling well – her ribs, her back, her head. It’s all swollen. It’s all really bad so we might end up going to the hospital tonight,” Todd added.

The 16-year-old said that while the family has flown a lot in the past, this was her first time in a seaplane, with the experience leaving her “traumatized.”

After the passengers were removed from the plane, the ship was put upright on the water and towed back to the docks.

The flight was being operated by Acadian Seaplanes through Blade Air, which blamed the hard landing on choppy waters from Saturday night’s storm and passing boats, the Daily Mail reported. 

“There were a lot of ferries in the vicinity and there may have been wind at the last second,” the company told the outlet. “The waves they create can be a problem as you try to land on the water.” 

It was not immediately clear who was flying the plane as its ownership and flight routes are not publicly available, according to the FAA and flight tracking websites.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing, police said. 

The incident comes less than a month after another seaplane was rescued from the East River after it was struck by a wave during takeoff and left it struggling in the water near the Throggs Neck Bridge.
